Yesterday was so beautiful, crisp and clear that I made time to go out location drawing in Bristol. For a while I have been planning to produce another collage of the Clifton Suspension Bridge and wanted to see the bridge at dusk on a clear winter day. Yesterday was perfect! The tide came in at 4pm and the water was as still as a millpond. I sat on my favourite spot on a little outcrop of land that sticks out into the estuary, with an uninterrupted view of the bridge. Hardly anyone walks this way, so you can sit in total peace. I came prepared with a cushion wrapped in plastic to sit on and a blanket to wrap around my legs, but even so I got EXTREMELY cold! My drawing is a bit wobbly due to the fact that my fingers lost all sensation, but the sketch is good enough to work from and the photos I took will give me wonderful colour reference.

I have begun planning a summer trip to The Isle of Skye and am getting very excited by the prospect of drawing in such a beautiful landscape. I will be on the hunt for traditional crofters's cottages, majestic mountains and stunning seascapes! I will gladly hear any suggestions of unmissable viewpoints on the island, or suggestions of lovely places to stay. I collaged a imaginary Scottish landscape today....
