This week has been really exciting for me! I made an initial sketch of Bristol harbour on tues..........

I used the drawing above as reference for a collage, but instead collaging onto stretched paper as normal, I worked onto thin plywood. Then using the laser cutting machines in UWE Bristol and  with help from the fantastic technician Michelle I cut around my collage.................  

I am really excited about the result! It's like a giant jigsaw piece. I can't wait to make my next piece.

At last it feels as if summer has arrived. I spent the weekend in the beautiful Sennen Cove, Cornwall. It was well worth getting up really early to make a drawing of our holiday cottage bathed in morning sunshine. It would be hard to imagine a more beautiful start to a day!

We took a drive to St Ives, following the winding coast road and sat on the beach with sunbathing holiday makers, who gradually turned pinker as the day wore on!
