Drawing trip to London

Last week I made a rare trip to London, spending a happy morning drawing in Notting Hill. Portobello rd's colourful antique shops, crammed with nicknacks make an enticing subject for a series of images which I am planning to collage in the coming months.

Drawing trip to Cornwall

Last week was school half term and I took the opportunity to dash down to Cornwall with the tent and my family for a couple of days. I managed to squeeze in a couple of sketches at my favourite harbours at Cadgwith Cove and Coverack. It was a lovely break and I'm looking forward to collaging both views when I have time.

I had to abandon this sketch of Coverack Harbour when rising tides threatened to cut off my route back to the beach and my pencil tin nearly blew into the sea several times due to the gusty conditions! Needless to say, it's not my best drawing, but I had fun attempting to beat the weather.

In Cadgwith Cove fishermen still bring their boats up onto the shingle every day and sell fresh fish from a shop on the quay. It's a beautiful little village, tucked in the crook of a valley. It seems a shame that most of the cottages are holiday lets and so I assume the fishermen have moved to more affordable and less convenient homes away from the harbour. It's a wonderful place to draw, even if the beach smells rather fishy!
