A good few months ago I went out location drawing in Bath and made a sketch of the Paragon, a very grand street in central Bath. The Paragon is not only famous for its splendid Georgian architecture, but also for a fabulous real ale pub called the Star. This particular sketching day was unusual, as a solar eclipse had just taken place and the street was bathed in a strange low light. I have been trying to find time to make a collage from my location drawing for ages, but finding time has been a challenge! This week I finally finished collaging onto plywood and plan to cut around the image in the next few weeks with a laser cutter. I made a time-lapse animation of the collage (see below), so that you can see the hundreds of bits and pieces of paper which comprise the image. The unusual subtle light was really tricky to capture and finding pieces of the right colour and tone took a very long time.
